There are so many vacancies available online that it's hard to make yours stand out. But with a few minor changes to the vacancy text, Google (and other search engines) will show your vacancy faster and rank it higher in the search results.

1. Go for a promotional introduction

Make clear in the first few sentences what the vacancy is about. Seduce the potential candidate to read on, get him excited! Do not be afraid to use the word 'vacancy', many people look up here! Make the intro if necessary italic or Fat so that it stands out. If people read on (and thus stay on your page longer), this has a positive influence on the ranking (the position in search results).

2. Use keywords in the text

Think through which words you want to be found and incorporate them into your text. Do not exaggerate here, but make sure that the text remains natural and that it is easy to read. Do not always use the same keyword, but also consider synonyms.

How do you find good keywords?

The best keyword tool is the Google Keyword Planner, but there are plenty of them alternatives to find. Of course you can also enter your keywords on Google, you will immediately receive suggestions and at the bottom of the page you will find related searches, here you can find inspiration for new keywords.

3. Structure your vacancy with headings

Subheadings, or headings, make your text clear to the reader, but are also good for search engines. Just as a book contains chapters, sections and sub-sections, a web page - in this case your vacancy - should also have such a structure.

Heading 1 (H1) is usually your title and is often generated automatically. In the text itself you can use intermediate headings, this is Heading 2 (H2), for additional subdivisions use Heading 3 (H3). Keywords can be useful in these headings, but don't exaggerate. For example, instead of 'job description' you can use 'Your tasks as a Digital Marketeer'.

A website is often made in a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress or Drupal. Most systems have a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor with which you can format your text, you will also find the headings there.

4. Choose lists

Enumerations can be quickly scanned for the reader, but the same applies to search engines. Enumerations promote your ranking, especially if you also include important keywords. So use this, for example, in the list of job requirements or in the reasons why someone should work for you.

Preferably use bullets or grade lists from the WYSIWYG editor. It is useless to make a list yourself by using '-' on each line.

5. Use enough words

Make sure your text is not too short. Try to use at least 300 words so that your story is clear and search engines know who your content is relevant to. But do not exaggerate, sometimes there is simply no more to say about the vacancy and then you should not make it longer than necessary.
